The Middle East Peace Camp (MEPC) is a local collaboration that builds intergenerational connections between Jews, Muslims, Palestinians, Arabs, and all our intersections, along with others committed to peace and social justice in the world. MEPC is focused on bringing together children from various backgrounds for a one-week day camp experience. Most of our campers are from the greater Seattle area. We welcome children from anywhere in the world if they are visiting the Seattle area and feel connected to our mission and vision. MEPC is a fabulous and unique experience to build relationships through art, culture and food.
Our camp is focused on learning and play for the campers, but throughout the camp week and thereafter counselors and adults have sessions to discuss issues of social justice and human rights.
We are distinct from other peace camps in our focus on building relationships locally. Our camp is for children ages 5 – 12, and our community extends to counselors ages 12-18+, as well as many adults, parents and volunteers who help to organize, teach and run our programs. While our focus is on providing a camp for children to play, learn and build relationships, we have extended our offerings to adult conversations throughout the year. Our community lends support to members as we stand against racism targeting anyone from our community.
